Kiki van Eijk was born in 1978 in The Netherlands. She graduated cum laude in 2000 from the Design Academy Eindhoven. Her graduation project, the embroidery-inspired, cross-stitch Kiki Carpet, garnered great attention in the design arena. In 2001, she opened her studio in Eindhoven, which she continues to share with designer Joost van Bleiswijk, though they work almost exclusively independently.
Van Eijk’s work often has a sense of the personal and poetic, inspired by nostalgia and handicraft. Her designs are primarily unique or limited editions, and her oeuvre span carpets, lighting, furniture, ceramics, glassware, and textiles. Her client list includes Studio Edelkoort Paris, Design Academy Eindhoven, Haans, Moooi, Bernhardt Design, Audax Textile Museum, and Hermès.
