Antique sand-cast bronze proof with brown patina depicting a harnessed draught horse. Signed by T. Gechter on the terrace and dated 1842. High-quality bronze sculpture with an equestrian effigy theme, fine chasing, abundant detail and ornamentation, spirited movements, characteristic of this Romantic sculptor who was particularly fond of modeling horses. Period cast, workshop of Jean-François-Théodore Gechter (1841-1844). Museums The Musée de Versailles holds his Buste de maréchal de Saint André.
