The Woodpecker is an original artwork realized by Leonardo Castellani in 1934. Original etching on paper. Hand-signed by the artist on the lower left; named and numbered on the lower right (Il picchio 8/10). Edition of 10 prints. Signed and dated on plate on the upper right corner. Passepartout included (cm 49 x 34). Perfect conditions. The artwork represents a very beautiful composition with a sparrow on the left and a still life in the center of the composition. The volumes of the figure are defined by great elegance and fineness. The quality of the strokes and the clarity of the composition make this artwork a great piece of Italian engraving. Excellent conditions. Leonardo Castellani (Faenza, 1896 - Urbino, 1984) was an Italian engraver. The artist experimented with different techniques, but he specialized in drawing, etching, and engraving. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price.
