Vintage Design

Small Napoleon III kidney-shaped coffee table, opening with a richly ornamented lid revealing a small storage space lined with floral fabric. This small piece of furniture has a blackened wooden structure decorated on all its sides with cedar burl and stained wood marquetry. The belt with its animated contours is decorated with cedar burl inlays forming elegant compositions. On top, the lid has an oval painted porcelain plate. A bucolic scene presents itself to us depicting a bird with outstretched wings, resting on spring flowers. The marquetry work surrounding this work is remarkable thanks to numerous interlacings and arabesques. An openwork gallery in gilded bronze follows the contours of this atypically shaped top. This table rests on four concave legs joined by a kidney-shaped spacer shelf in their center and widely flared at the bottom. This spacer shelf also benefits from rich precious wood inlays.
