This side table is crafted from polished Rosso Levanto marble, quarried in Liguria. Characterized by its dark red coloring and striking white veining, Rosso Levanto effortlessly blends red, burgundy, black and interweaving white tones into a natural wonder. An exceptional accent piece, it is sure to add depth, drama and texture to any space it occupies. OUR VISION Alma: the Italian word for “soul” meaning enduring life or a feeling or energy as revealed in a work of art. Marmo: the Italian word for “marble.” Much like a piece of art, each slab of marble is a unique work by nature with a soul, evoking an intellectual and emotional response in the eye of its beholder. Founders Benedetta Pisani and Carter Inskeep-Rosenfeld’s approach to design and creation starts with their inspired interpretations of the natural stone they have chosen to work with. Coupled with the careful consideration of the functional intention of each piece, their aim is to pay tribute to the singularity of the stone and ensure it will be cherished in its new home for generations to come. BACKGROUND In the world of design and architecture, marble is a much sought-after natural material, revered for its purity, durability, and unique aesthetic qualities. While marble can be found in many places in the world, Carrara is the epicenter of the stone and sculpture industry, home to some of the very finest stone quarries and marble craftsmen in the world. In the quarries of Carrara, blocks of marble are skillfully and respectfully collected, divided into slabs and selected by clients for their design and renovation projects all over the world. While much effort is made in precision calculating and getting the most out of each slab in the cutting process, workshops are often left with extra material. Growing up in Carrara, Benedetta Pisani has been surrounded by marble yards and workshops filled with eclectic collections of leftover slabs and pieces of stone her entire life. While logistically, she understood there remained too little to be considered for a full, new design project, she knew that what was left was simply too special to be set aside. Benedetta reached out to her friend and Paris based designer, Carter Inskeep-Rosenfeld, and the two began imagining ways of repurposing and giving new life to these precious, unused materials. The result of their creative collaboration and shared passion for natural stone is the conception of ALMARMO in 2022.
