Oil portrait of a female figure executed in the style of Magical Realism typical of Casorati.

This fine painting depicts a young girl seated and interrupted in the act of reading , the style of sober clothing and hairstyle is typical of the 1940s - 1950s, the background is rendered instead by curtains.

What is most striking is the face of the young woman, the expression is serious and at the same time sad, the large eyes show an absorbed almost worried look, and the complexion despite being finely made up appears dull.

The painting itself looks static, but an experienced eye will notice how the author has used a play of light and shadow on the blouse that reveal its movement.

The portrait is very reminiscent in subject and style of paintings by the great Italian painters of the first half of the twentieth century, such as Felice Casorati, Gino Severini, and many others.

The painting is in excellent state of preservation and has no defects.

The painting is signed but indecipherable, but the great mastery of execution immediately hints at great names in painting, and it is undated but by style and costumes it can be placed in the first half of the 20th cent.
