A rare and precious picture frame, the result of a deep knowledge of "Marble" and a great mastery of the artisan technique of "Mosaic". We offer you an Octagonal shaped frame, made in Italy around the middle of the 20th century with a seemingly inlaid decoration but it is actually the ancient technique of Mosaic. To create this polychrome frame, Siena yellow marble tiles were used for the background and onyx green and garnet red for the interlacing decoration. The frame is in good general condition but has undergone restoration due to the lack of a tile. The professional who took care of the restoration was inspired by the Florentine Scagliola technique for this work, filling the missing part with a colored stucco that blends in perfectly with the rest of the marble.
