Rare and beautiful Louis XV secretary stamped popsel, marked with rosewood and violet wood.
This control unit, is a unique and extraordinary model, specially made by one of the largest Parisian cabinetmaker in the middle of the 18th century, for an important character in the court of Louis XV.
Jean Popsel is a cabinetmaker of German origin, born in 1720. He worked several years as a privileged craftsman of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, before passing master on July 5, 1755. until the end of the reign of Louis XV, he remained on rue Traversary. He then came to remain on rue Saint-Nicolas and did not stop working until 1785.
Known for its harmonious furniture, Popsel signs a unique piece of furniture here with ideal proportions. He also carries the jurande punch (JME).
This piece of furniture includes a cornice in a gendarme hat composed of a throat and a quarter of a round; with rosewood veneer and violet wood.
In the upper part, two large doors are each embellished with a rosewood veneer in butterfly wings. Around, a band cut from the inside, in purple wood arranged diagonally, forms a hectic line. These doors are equipped with original bronze inputs, a lock in perfect working order, benefiting on the left door of an original sliding system and an eighteenth key.
These two doors open on a large storage space with two original oak shelves, adjustable on a rack.
In addition, this piece of furniture is equipped with a large slaughter whose facade is also placed with two compositions of rosewood leaves arranged in butterfly wings and surrounded by violet wood also worked in an eventful way.
The original lock is in perfect condition, accompanied by a bronze entrance and a posterior key. At the opening, the flap is retained by original brass compass.
It is dressed in original brown leather with cold-hit sticker and wooden cutting wood with tab cut.
The interior, in oak, is composed on each side of two drawers whose movement facade in rosewood veneer is embellished with a button and a original bronze rosette. We also find deep niches of different sizes.
In addition, this piece of furniture presents in the lower part two other doors also marked with a composition of rosewood arranged in a butterfly wing and surrounded by hectic violet wood diagonally. The lock and bronze entrance are original. The interior is made up of a fixed shelf on cleats.
