Vintage Design

Magnificent lacquered papier box decorated with imaginary animals (which look like cats) and plant patterns. The box seems to take the form of a vegetable or a cucurbit/gourd. The papier mache (or boiled cardboard) is painted in black (with dark blue reflections) and the patterns are engraved and enhanced with paint (gold, green, white).
