This pair of vases in Italian earthenware in barbotine is a magnificent example of artistic crafts and the creativity of the Bassano factory, under the direction of Master Antonio Zen, at the beginning of the 20th century.

First, the handles represented by dragons add a mythological and exotic dimension to these pieces. Dragons, symbols of power and strength, are often used in decorative art to add a touch of mystery and elegance.

Then, the sets on the paunch of the vases are remarkable. On the one hand, a romantic scene perhaps evokes love stories or moments of tenderness, thus capturing the essence of romanticism which was very popular at the time. On the other side, the landscape with a mill by the water offers a peaceful and bucolic atmosphere, transporting the spectator to a world of serenity and tranquility.

In addition, the feet with a leafy winding bring a touch of sophistication and finesse to these vases, while ensuring their stability. Their worked design reflects the attention paid to the details and the artisanal know-how of the Bassano factory.

Despite the gaps and restorations on the feet, these vases keep all their beauty and decorative character. Their signature "A.Z" attests to their authenticity and their origin, thus adding a historical value to these parts.
