Golden Friezes, Set of 2

Pair of golden friezes richly carved in lime wood with a central oval tableau depicting Saint Michael brandishing the sword in his right hand and holding the scales in his left hand. The frieze is completed by the effigy of an angel's face in the upper part and two angel profiles at the lateral ends connected by volutes. The lower part had to be connected to a wooden support for the presentation of the devotional plaque.

The Confraternity of Saint Michael was an association of Catholic faithful dedicated to promoting the devotion and veneration of the Archangel Saint Michael. This brotherhood organized prayer meetings, processions, cultural and charity events to celebrate the figure of Saint Michael and spread his protection and intercession among the faithful. The brotherhood could be present in various parishes and churches that have Saint Michael the Archangel as their patron.

The two brotherhoods are in a good state of conservation and come from Central-Northern Italy.
