Vintage Design

Gilded regule clock featuring French physicist, mathematician and inventor Denis Papin (1647-1713) seated next to his attributes.
Papin is best known as the precursor of the steam engine.
The white enamelled dial features Roman numeral hours.
The mechanism is set in a cylinder representing a steam engine.
The whole rests on a tiered Mazy Noir marble base from Belgium, decorated with fillets and ending in small claw feet.
This clock pays tribute to the inventor and man of genius Denis Papin, who, after so much time has passed, remains engraved in our collective memory to this day.
