Buffet dressoir French cabinet, circa 1880. from the area of French Britanny. Two carved doors representing the blazon of Britanny blazon. On the left the officiel blazon of Britanny with the currency of Britanny "Potius Mori Quam Foedari" which means "Rather succumb than betray" and on the right the collared ermine with the currency "A ma vie" (to my life) a Latin pun with "Amavi" (I love). These blazons were a important part of the Breton identity against French royal power. One drawer. Florals and vegetal motifs on the front and on the sides of the cabinet. Massive chestnut. Nice patina. Good antique condition. This buffet is the low part of a deux-corps buffet. You can see on the top the traces of the old fastenings on the upper part. 41 / 87 / 109 cm 30.5 kg
