Neo-surrealism in Spain during the 2000s drew inspiration from the early 20th-century Surrealist movement, famously championed by Salvador Dalí. However, the artists in the 2000s introduced contemporary twists, using new techniques and exploring modern issues through fantastical, dreamlike, and symbolic imagery,
blending reality with fantasy, creating ambiguous, oneiric spaces that question the nature of reality and perception evoking a surreal sense of nature and life through light, shadow, and muted colors.
