Iconic Djinn lounge chair designed by Oliver Mourgue in 1965 for Airborne International.
The Series were named after a supernatural Djinn (or genie) from Arabian fairy tales that could assume human or animal form. The collection’s anthropomorphic qualities were representative of a new direction in sculptural furniture design. The most well-known of the series is the undulating Djinn Chair, which found fame after it was featured in Stanley Kubrick’s futuristic film 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968).
The chair has a tubular curved steel structure with foam and covered with a purple wool upholstery.
It was in production from 1965 till 1976.
The chair is in very good condition. Only little traces of use.
