A stylish chinoiserie mirror. Decorated in the Chinese chinoiserie manner depicting figures in traditional costumes, flowers and birds, surrounding an original bevelled mirror. The lacquered rectangular frame with scalloped corners and pediment to top. C1920

This type of mirror is highly collectible, considered art in its own right, the quality of the painting is exquisite.

Chinoiserie was a decorative style in Western art, furniture, and architecture, especially in the 18th century, characterised by the use of Chinese motifs and techniques.
