Antique Picture Frame with Mythical Creatures in Bronze, 1850

About This Piece

Vintage Design

A monumental picture frame decorated with mythical creatures (cherubs, dwarves) from the historicist/neoclassical period, made of bronze.
The frame is crowned at the top center by a putti, the feet on the right and left are each adorned with the head of a dwarf, these and the two upper corners are flanked by 2 fish each. The frame is lined with foliage all around.

The frame is patinated bronze, it is high quality and finely crafted. The stand is also massive and elaborately crafted.
The picture sits behind a glass pane.

The back mounts (12 pieces) for the picture were replaced because they were no longer available. There are also 2 screws and a bracket for replacement.
