About This Piece

Dimensions of the work include the oil painting (130 x 90 cm) and a custom frame with the title (146 x 107 cm).
An inscription on the painting reads "I poszedł i zapomniał o gwiazdach sufit. Sufit jego niebem, niebem pustym jak on" ("And he went and forgot about the stars, a ceiling. The ceiling is his sky, a sky as empty as himself").

AGATA STOMMA
studied at the Academies of Fine Arts in Gdansk and in Warsaw (1975-1981). After graduation she worked as an animator of animated films and made illustrations for books for children and magazines. Between 1996 and 2006, she was a lecturer at the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw. She paints figurative paintings, often portraits. Pure, stark colors and expressive poses are some of the characteristic features of her work. Read more
