About This Piece

Vintage Design

A gorgeous and exciting piece of antique furniture. This 17th Century oak coffer most likely used to store grain used to be in Lord and Lady Armitage's Kirklees hall estate, 16th century Grade I Jacobean hall close to the village of Clifton in Calderdale, West Yorkshire.

This lovely oak coffer was part of the auction sale of Lord and Lady Armytage estate belongings in March 2013.

The last picture details some information about the family and fascinating facts about Robin Hood's gravesite.

Signs of authentic original patina and very sturdy design with superficial checking and splitting creating unique character without affecting the wood's structural integrity.
